TRUMPET.
A young orphan Sumatran elephant is pictured at an elephant camp at Way Kambas national park, South Sumatra. Elephant mitigation such as fireworks, barriers and fences all help human settlements but sadly elephants suffer and many times mothers and babies are separated in the process
Captured while on assignment documenting habitat loss from destructive logging, palm oil plantation practices and poaching.
There are less than 2,000 wild Sumatran elephants remaining in 25 fragmented habitats. The population continues to decline and is in threat of becoming extinct.
